On December 1, 2016, we reviewed the urban design merit for the proposed street vacation of 29th Ave SW and SW City View. We approved the urban design merit with several conditions and recommendations. We will review it again during the public benefit phase.
The project team is proposing to construct a self storage facility on two parcels located along Harbor Ave SW in West Seattle. In order to build the facility, the project team is proposing to vacate a segment of the 29th Ave SW and SW City View rights-of-way. Both streets currently function as unimproved rights-of-way (ROW). This portion of 29th Ave SW was included in a previous vacation petition, resulting in the construction of private rail lines over a portion of the existing ROW, while SW City View provides access to an existing building located on the project site. Pending an approval of the vacation petition, the east lot line of the project site will be adjusted to align with an existing retaining wall and fence line. The preferred building alternative includes the construction of a single four story self storage facility with 50 enclosed parking spaces.
