In November we released our Stadium District Study recommendations and our Duwamish Industrial Lands Study recommendations and asked for public comments on both. We are currently reviewing and considering those comments. Recommendations from the Stadium District Study and the Duwamish Industrial Lands Study are included in a set of proposed amendments to our Comprehensive Plan.
In early 2014 the City Council will consider whether to make policy changes to the Comprehensive Plan based on our recommendations and your feedback. Although the formal comment period is over, we still want to hear from you about our study. Please take this short survey about the Stadium District Study, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to provide your input.
The Stadium District Study recommends setting up a new Stadium District neighborhood that will focus on sports and entertainment and related business and industries including hotels, which are not currently allowed by the zoning rules. In order to make sure the recommended Stadium District thrives, we encourage building housing on key sites right next to Pioneer Square and the Chinatown / International District. We expect that offices and more industrial businesses will be a part of the Stadium District too. We also recommend improvements to open spaces and sidewalks such as an Occidental Avenue Promenade near the stadiums.
