Mathew Albores
Position: Local Residential Representative

Mathew is a registered architect and LEED accredited professional with over ten years of experience. He is currently a project architect at The Miller Hull Partnership focused primarily on residential projects.  Previous work experience includes Bohlin Cywinski Jacskon's Seattle office and Daly Genik Architects in Los Angeles where he worked on a wide range of projects including custom residential homes, multi-family housing and small institutional charter schools. Born and raised overseas, Mathew returned to the United States to earn his bachelor’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University. He moved to Seattle in 1997 to attend the University of Washington where he received his master of architecture degree. He is also an active member of Architects Without Borders, Seattle Chapter, working on the design for an orphanage in Babati, Tanzania.

Gabe Grant
Position: Local Business Representative

Gabe Grant 2010 Design Review Board

Gabe has worked in for-profit and non-profit real estate development since 2001. He is currently a Vice President with HAL Real Estate Investments, a company with a history of diverse, creative and highly successful projects in the region. At HAL, Gabe works on new acquisitions, development and has responsibility for the financial performance of a number of properties. He is currently co-chair of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Young Leaders Group, has served on the board of Historic Seattle and on the Zoning Review Board of Cambridge, MA and in 2009 was named to the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list. Gabe was a Fulbright Scholar, 1997-1998, and earned a Masters of Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School, a certificate from the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School and a BA in International Studies from the University of Washington.

Murphy McCullough
Position: Development Representative

Murphy is a real estate development professional with 20 years of experience working on office, residential, medical, and institutional projects. Now working for Skanska, he previously worked at Tarragon, Hines and SDL/McCarthy, contributing to projects that included Fourth & Madison, Harbor Steps, University Village and, more recently, Stone34 and 400 Fairview. After growing up in Federal Way, he moved to Seattle where as an undergraduate at the University of Washington he received a BA in Construction Management and completed the Commercial Real Estate & Development Program. Murphy has been living in West Seattle for the past 13 years.

Pragnesh Parikh
Position: Community Representative
Term: Second

Pragnesh is a senior project manager at Sclater Partners Architects. He has extensive experience in architectural design, project management, consultant selection and coordination, quality assurance and construction administration. He has assisted out of town architectural firms in navigating the design review process that helps create architectural designs that respond to Seattle’s culture and environment. He has spent several years in private practice and also worked at prominent architectural firms in Seattle. His experience includes working on 1200 Stewart mixed-use development and the Seattle Central Library in Seattle, Microsoft West Campus in Redmond, Bellevue Square Expansion and Summit and Civica office buildings in Bellevue and Boeing Commercial Airplane Group Headquarters in Tukwila. He holds a Masters in Urban Studies and Geography degree from Temple University and completed a Postgraduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning and an Undergraduate Program in Architecture at CEPT University in Ahmadabad, India. He is also an architectural photographer.

Gundula Proksch
Position: Design Professional Representative

Gundula Proksch is a registered architect and architectural educator with over 12 years of experience working in London, New York and Seattle. Besides her work in private practice, she has worked with recognized architects David Chipperfield, Richard Meier and Skidmore Owings Merrill (SOM). She has a range of significant experience with both institutional and private clients working on projects ranging from office buildings and secure facilities to athletic training venues and inter-generational housing.

Prior to joining the University of Washington in 2008 as an Assistant Professor of Architecture, she taught at Parsons The New School for Design in New York. Her current work focuses on design with living systems in built environments. She is conducting interdisciplinary research on urban agriculture, water management and system integration.

She has a Master of Architecture from Cornell University and a Diplom Ingenieur in Architecture from the University of Technology Braunschweig, Germany. She was a DAAD scholar at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

Design Guidelines

Thirty design review guidelines for multifamily and commercial buildings--along with neighborhood-specific supplements--form the backbone of the City's Design Review Program in Seattle's neighborhoods. Separate guidelines govern downtown development.

In early 2012, DPD will be updating the design guidelines for multifamily and commercial development.
