Trade Permits
Refrigeration

A refrigeration permit is required whenever remote refrigerant lines are installed. The applicant must supply the following information:

  • Work site address
  • Applicant information
  • Description of installation
  • Work site owner/tenant information
  • Installer information including the City of Seattle refrigeration/contractor license number
  • Hp rating of each compressor and number of units

Many of the permits for refrigeration systems are available at the Over-the-Counter area of DPD's Applicant Service Center (location & hours). The Refrigeration Permit Application is available online on our Over-the-Counter forms website. Find more information in CAM 104, Getting an OTC Permit.

Licensing
The professional who applies for the refrigeration permit must have a City of Seattle Refrigeration Contractor's license. Please see more information about that licensing on our Trade Licensing website.

Mechanical Permits
Depending upon the equipment being installed, a separate Mechanical Permit may be required. Please see CAM 415, Applicant Responsibilities and Plan Requirements for Mechanical Permits, for specific requirements.

Be Prepared
Be prepared before you come in! Find and download forms from our Over-the-Counter forms website.
