Seattle Energy Code
Energy Technical Backup

ENERGY CODE INFORMATION: The best sources for Energy Code information are the code itself, followed by Client Assistance Memos which address more common questions. In addition, the Seattle Department of Design, Construction and Land Use (DPD) provides a Technical Backup service to answer Energy Code questions which is available by calling 206-684-7846 between 1:00 and 4:15 pm. Prepare your question, call this number, and then ask for "Energy Technical Backup". (This number can also be used for questions on the Mechanical Code.)

So that we can give you a more precise answer, please provide as complete a summary of your project and the particular question as possible. Be aware that responses are conditional and based on the information which you give. Code compliance for a particular project is determined based on materials submitted in a permit application.

INFORMATION ON OTHER CODES, PERMIT APPLICATIONS, INSPECTIONS: For questions on other codes that Seattle DPD enforces (such as the Building Code or Electrical Code) or to request inspections, see the list of phone numbers to reach us at Seattle DPD. For information on permit applications, see Getting a Permit from Seattle DPD.
