Effective January 1, 2005 an SDOT street use permit for use
of the right-of-way (ROW) is required when applying for a
side sewer permit. ROW use includes:
- material laydown and storage;
- stockpiling;
- curb and sidewalk crossing of equipment;
- equipment parking during side sewer installation; and/or
- excavation in the ROW to make a side sewer repair and/or
connection.
A side sewer permit with ROW use will not be granted without
the street use permit, which costs $165 and includes up to
one hour of SDOT inspection time. Details
Why the Change?
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is in the
process of revising the way it issues and tracks permits.
As part of this effort, SDOT now requires a street use permit
for use of the right-of-way (ROW) in conjunction with permitted
side sewer work.
How to Pay for the Permit
As of Feb. 28, 2005, DPD is now collecting the SDOT ROW use
fee in conjuction with side sewer permitting. This means the
ROW permit should no longer be obtained separately at the
SDOT Street Use Counter.
Payment for the street use permit should now be made to the
DPD Cashier, located on the 20th floor of Seattle Municipal
Tower at 700 Fifth Ave.
