Guide to the Archives of the City of Seattle Record Group 9900 9900-01 A collection of City of Seattle and non-City ephemera. Includes letterhead, bumper stickers, business cards, signs and notices, calendars, civil defense and war chest materials, and a collection of water meter catalogs. SMA 9901-01 Postcards collected from a variety of sources. Primarily of Seattle locations, postcards from other states and other countries are also included. Photographic, lithographic, and other types of postcards are included. The majority of postcards are 3x5" but larger ones are included in the collection. SMA 9905-01 Semi-monthly newsletter on local government. SMA 9905-02 Monthly newsletter published by Seattle-King County Civil Defense. SMA 9905-03 Monthly newspaper published by the Civil Service League of City Employees. SMA 9905-04 Souvenir magazines from the summer Seafair festival. Most are from the 1960s. SMA 9905-05 Bimonthly newsletter of the ARSCE containing news from city hall, event notices, and information about retirement programs. SMA 9910-02 Newsletters and brochures produced by various City departments and related agencies. SMA 9920-01 Photographs of Seattle Parks Department Sails and Trails activities. SMA 9935-01 Two photographs of Hamilton's father, Arthur Herman Vagts, on a Wallingford streetcar in 1918. Arthur Herman Vagts was born March 22, 1901 on a farm in Port Orchard, Washington. His family moved to Seattle when he was eight and he remained a resident of Seattle until his death in May 1977. The streetcar belonged to Puget Sound Traction, Light and Power Company, Seattle Division. Digital copies of the photographs are available in the Photograph Index under series number 9935-01. SMA 9940-01 Maps, flyers and newspaper clippings relating to the sale of real estate in Rainier Beach in 1904. Plat maps and photographs of houses are included in some of the flyers. The collection also includes articles, pamphlets, programs and photographs relating to the Rainier Beach community and Seattle. A digital copy of the birdseye map in this collection is available in the Map Index as item 1941. Digital copies of the photographs are available in the Photograph Index under series number 9940-01. SMA 9945-01 Most of Kiehl's photographs were taken while he was stationed at Fort Lawton although images include ones of his family at Fort Lawton, Port Townsend and other locations. Photographs of the family camping, the children posing, and automobile trips, are included with photographs of buildings and work at Fort Lawton. The material documenting Fort Lawton was collected and donated by Sara Smith, the granddaughter of H. Ambrose Kiehl. Copy negatives of Ambrose Kiehl's glass plate negatives are included, along with an index in the form of a photocopy of his photo notebook. The originals are at the University of Washington Special Collections. The material was in the hands of another photographer who lived on Bainbridge Island, Frederick Mann, for a time. Mann's photographs for Fort Lawton taken in the 1970s during the adaptive reuse planning are also included in this collection. Mann's work as an architect for Millegan Jaddi Architectural Engineers of the Yesler Way Incline Bridge is included in this collection. Photographs and background material on Fort Lawton and Discovery Park, from various sources, is included in this collection as well. SMA 9950-01 Six films documenting personal and government history in the Seattle area and beyond. Included are 16mm personal films of Our Lady Catholic Church at Ross Dam, I% freeway construction, the Canadian US border at Huntingon, the dedication of the King County Medical Service Corporation, Lud Kramer at his desk, and a flood in Lake City. Cataloged individually in the moving images database; search the database using the series identification number 9950-01. SMA 9955-01 Fifty-five color slides depicting Century 21, now Seattle Center, including the International Fountain, the Space Nee dle, amusement park rides, the monorail, and other attractions and landmarks. Pana-vue and Vita-vue slides of Sawyer, Inc. SMA 9975-01 57 color slides; subjects include 1951 aerials of Seattle and surrounding area, the 1959 Gold Cup Seafair hydroplane race, the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair grounds and the Ice Follies, and 1963 shots of the Seattle Center.
