Other City Services

Over the past century, Seattle City government has aggressively tackled many of the common problems and hazards shared by its citizens including public safety, health, sanitation, consumer protection, community building, and social services. Some City services were discontinued when a particular threat ended (tuberculosis hospitals), others expanded to take on new challenges (Fire Department with Medic One), while some City services continue to address perpetual issues of crime, safety, disadvantaged communities, and quality of life.
