Parks & Recreation

The Parks system has grown from a single park in 1884 to a system of more than 430 parks and open areas, comprising about eleven percent of Seattle's total land area. The Parks and Recreation Department also oversees the City's boulevards, community centers, public golf courses, and many other athletic and cultural facilities.
