CARE Community Crisis Responder Team

Team of CARE responders

Diversified Response

The CARE Community Crisis Responder Team includes qualified behavioral health specialists, trained to provide support and resources to people experiencing crises. CARE Community Crisis Responders (CCR) are unarmed and will not exercise enforcement of any kind.

CARE CCRs are dispatched by the Seattle 9-1-1 Communications Center or directly radioed to assist by Seattle Police Department patrol officers, who ensure the situation is safe and CARE CCRs can spend sufficient time co-facilitating community members to the appropriate service providers.

Diversified response will optimize the City's public safety and public health investments and resources, by significantly streamlining the process of identifying people in crisis and connecting them to the appropriate service provider best-equipped to co-facilitate a positive outcome, while freeing up police officers and fire fighters to more readily respond to higher-priority calls.

Geographic Scope

CARE Community Crisis Responders (CCR) will initially serve Seattle’s Downtown Activation Plan (DAP) area, from Denny Way to the stadium district, primarily west of I-5 down to the waterfront.

Hours of Operation

CARE Community Crisis Responders (CCR) currently operate from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
